Job Description – part time Campaign Organiser Trafford

Working with Constituency Officers, Wards, Councillors and Candidates, the job holder will organise practical campaign planning, execution and tracking for the Trafford 2018 LE’s.

This job – Campaign Organiser - will work closely with the existing resources of the Constituencies and Conservative Group in Trafford .  The level of activity in each Ward will reflect the Campaign objectives of the Constituencies as agreed within the Trafford LE Strategy. This Part Time (avge 3 days/wk) job will require flexible working to reflect the sometimes uneven workload.

Purpose of the job

Based on the Trafford 2018 Campaign, the jobholder will work with Ward/ Councillors/Candidates to develop and implement Ward plans to maximise the number of Elected Councillors. Line control would be through ASW Chairman (on behalf of funders).

The principal areas of responsibility

  1. Lead the implementation of the Constituency campaign strategy at Ward level.
  2. Monitor overall campaign progress and seek recovery plans for actual outturns and, in particular identify solutions to new/unplanned issues.
  3. Work with Wards to develop ward structures, campaigning skills and membership/supporter/activist numbers.
  4. Manage social, press and public communication to promote Conservative Candidates.
  5. Manage data protection, collection, quality and access/usage protocols.
  6. Provide secretariat support to the Trafford Elections Committee.

Typical tasks within the overall Election Campaign will include

·       Attending & contributing as appropriate to, the Elections Committee.

·       Developing Ward Committee roles; jobholders & volunteer/activists.

·       Developing longer term canvass/communication strategies and monitoring performance with each Ward within the overall plan.

·       Producing social and/or print media campaigns appropriate to the issue and target audience.

·       Regularly reviewing competitor activity/intelligence - prompting, assisting Wards in identifying potential new issues, threats, opportunities.

·       Promoting the image of the Candidates and the Council.

·       Producing Candidate press releases and passing information to press agencies/opinion formers.

·       Maintaining “best practice” use of Blueprint materials in electorate communication.

·       Managing postal vote recruitment and Get Out The Vote campaigns.

·       Coordinate campaigning across the Wards on Constituency and Borough issues.

·       Ensuring compliance with Electoral law.

·       Establishing a library of Association, Ward and Competitor communications.

·       Throughout these activities, the job-holder will act as a mentor/trainer to enhance the critical skill sets within the 3 Constituencies.
