Altrincham councillors gave some local gardens at the end of Oldfield Road were recently given a makeover, and this should mean that they bloom again.

Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady has welcomed the decision by Trafford to give the go ahead to an ambitious bid by Hale Community Trust, a group of active local residents, working with Hillcrest Homes, to build a new library, public toilets and pavilion building.

At the local elections on Thursday 7 May, Trafford Conservatives successfully defended all seats held while also taking back a seat from Labour in Broadheath ward.  This means that the Conservative majority on Trafford Council has increased from three seats to five seats, with total seats as follows:

Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady has pointed to the success of selective Trafford in getting pupils to top universities following a recent feature in the Times newspaper. The report by the Sutton Trust highlighted the Local Education Authorities getting most pupils into Russell Group Universities. Most LEAS were in London and the Southeast. The only three areas outside the Southeast which made it into the top 20 were selective Trafford, selective Torbay and partially selective Bournemouth.
