"Labour’s first Budget disaster for Trafford residents”

I have issued the following statement to the press in relation to the Executive’s draft budget proposals debated on Monday:

it’s clear from these draft proposals that the new Labour administration have little idea about how they will be able to meet the budget gap for the next financial year.  This should concern residents as what we know is the proposals contain the maximum Council tax rise, a 150% increase in car parking charges including an extension to the charging period to 8pm potentially undoing all the progress made to support a thriving nightime economy and no removal of green waste charges despite an ‘aspiration’ to do so.

Residents have been sold a pup and will now face the consequences of a Labour administration, propped up by the Greens and Lib Dem’s, who are on course to overspend the Councils budget already this year, for the first time in fourteen years, which just means even more unnecessary cuts as a direct result of their financial imprudence.  There is more bad news to come and this is squarely the responsibility of the Labour Party.
